How To Go from Istanbul Airport (IST) To Sultanahmet by Public Transportation (Metro and Bus)
To get from Istanbul Airport to Sultanahmet, take the M11 line metro line to Gayrettepe, then transfer to the M2 (Yenikapı- Hacıosman) metro line.
Take the train on the M2 line going towards Yenikapı and get off at the Yenikapı or Vezneciler as an alternative.
For the final transfer, you can board the T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram
If you get off at Vezneciler, walk a few minutes down the street to the Laleli-Üniversite tram stop.
If you get off at Yenikapı, walk to the nearby Aksaray tram stop.
Also, you can purchase an Istanbulkart while using the metro line, and for about 3.06€, you can get a physical card. But you'll still need to load additional money before you can use it.
If you don't want to buy an Istanbulkart, you can simply tap your contactless credit or debit card directly at the gates to pay for your ride. Alternatively, you can also buy single or limited-use tickets from ticket machines inside the station or online.

To reach Sultanahmet directly and with minimal transfers, the Havaist bus is a great choice.
You can reach Çatladıkapı (Sultanahmet) directly via the HVL-11 line. The journey can take about 110 minutes on average.
The bus drops you off at the Çatladıkapı stop along the seaside road. Since walking with luggage to the main Sultanahmet area or your hotel can be challenging, taking a short taxi ride will be more comfortable.
